“Trossard deserves more! – Brighton and Belgium fans can’t believe Roberto Martinez’s decision
Brighton and Belgium fans came to an agreement this afternoon after seeing Leandro Trossard limited to a late appearance for the Red Devils.
The Seagulls star was among Belgium’s substitutes for the third-place play-off against Italy, with Roberto Martinez again opting out of giving the 26-year-old a starting spot.
This was despite Trossard making an impact on the bench against France midweek, when his introduction as a substitute for the last 16 minutes of the game won him praise from fans.
Indeed, Trossard had been tipped by some to start the match against Italy in the absence of Eden Hazard, whom he replaced on Thursday when the former Chelsea man left with muscle fatigue.
But instead, Martinez opted to leave Trossard as an option on the bench again, with the Brighton striker having to wait until the 87th minute of the game before being called in to enter the fray.
At that point, Belgium were down 2-1 and headed for defeat against the European Champions, who held their ground for third place in the Nations League.
But Martinez’s decision not to play Trossard early on, or to introduce him earlier, has some fans talking.
Here’s what some fans from Brighton and Belgium said on social media.
@Growth pains said: Trossard also refreshed the game after his substitution. Where is he?

Trossard, who has made all seven Premier League appearances so far this season for Brighton, helping the Seagulls to sixth place with 14 points from those games.
He scored the game-winning goal for the Seagulls against Brentford last month, which is his only goal so far this season.
Trossard will now return to Brighton ahead of the Seagulls’ trip to face Norwich City at Carrow Road next weekend.
