Work on a £6.5million bespoke student apartment scheme in Lancaster has been completed.
Priestley Construction, the Leeds-based contractor, delivered the project which included a 19,217 square foot new build and conversion of a five-storey Grade II listed building, creating 89 new apartments, as well as communal areas for residents.
The realization of the project did not go without problems. A partially designed project and partially completed M&E report identified several issues that needed to be addressed.
Having received instructions in early February 2021, with the prevailing issues discovered in the partial build, Priestley Construction felt the best solution was to completely restart the design process, completely re-working the schedule, which delayed delivery.
The final project has been completed for the client, Priestley Homes, with Cheadle-based Together as the financial partner. The latest apartments have been made available through Homes for Students.
Nathan Priestley, Chief Executive of the Priestley Group, said: “The delivery of Cable Street has been a success, despite the setbacks we have encountered. This is a testament to the team at Priestley Construction, their expertise and technical skills have enabled us to provide top notch student accommodation to our usual high industry recognized standards.
