Northern Trust has entered into a planning promotion agreement with the private landowner on land in St Cuthbert’s Garden Village, Carleton, Carlisle.
The land, which is 176 acres, is currently a Greenfield site for agricultural use. The plans will be promoted in two separate phases with the aim of providing up to 750 homes.
David Jones, Senior Land Manager at Northern Trust, said: “We are actively looking for further residential and commercial land opportunities to buy or promote across the UK; we are therefore delighted to be working with this private landowner to facilitate development plans for this strategic site to provide much needed new homes to the area and continue investment to benefit the local community. »
Northern Trust and the landowner are working alongside Savills planning and development teams in the North West to secure planning and agree a land deal respectively.
Jonathan Ainley, associate director of Savills’ North West planning team, added: ‘We have worked on behalf of the landowner for the past five years to promote this site and now look forward to the next phase. , working with Northern Trust to build a Garden Village in Carleton in the short term.
“It is part of the largest Garden Village in the country and we are confident it can deliver high quality new homes, with excellent public spaces and excellent connectivity, while supporting Carlisle City Council in its ambition to economic growth.”
