Boise police arrest 21-year-old Nampa man on child enticement charges
Police said the man planned to meet a child for “sexual purposes” via social media.
BOISE, Idaho – The Boise Police Department announced Friday that officers arrested a Nampa man earlier this week after police said he traveled to Boise to meet with a child.
Officials said detectives from the Boise PD Special Victims Unit opened an investigation that showed Kammiron Hicks, 21, of Nampa, traveled to Boise to meet with a ‘minor child under 15 for sexual purposes ”.
When Hicks arrived at the meeting place, Boise Police and US Marshals Task Force officers were already there and took him into custody.
Officials added that after an initial investigation, Hicks was sentenced to Ada County Jail for the felony of child seduction via the Internet and for giving a child harmful materials.
Boise Police say parents should search their children’s phones for apps and websites like Snapchat, OkCupid, Tumblr, Tinder, Instagram, Kik, Chatspin, Whisper, and Tik Tok.
“In our experience, some apps like Instagram and TikTok can be used relatively safely with supervision,” SVU Sgt. Adam Nielsen said in a statement. “It is important to have conversations with your children about the possible dangers of these applications and to monitor their access and use of their phones.”
